3-day city break in Salzburg
Tips for a 3 days short trip in Salzburg
Day one of your Salzburg city break:
If you plan a 3-day city break in Salzburg, you will have plenty of time to discover the city. To start off with, you will arrive completely relaxed at Altstadthotel Wolf-Dietrich and have your luggage brought to your comfortable room. After a short tour of our city hotel you can head towards the city of Salzburg. The best way to do this is to take the hop-on hop-off bus. It is a comfortable and easy way to get a first impression of Salzburg. You can stop at each interesting sight – and then get on the bus again at some other place. There are 12 bus stops throughout the city. In summer you can enjoy an unusual view of the city of Mozart from an open-topped bus. Visitors who want to take a boat trip along the river Salzach can buy a combi ticket which is also valid for the “Amadeus”. After this comfortable tour through Salzburg you can relax in the afternoon with a free cup of coffee and a piece of homemade cake at our Altstadthotel. You can prolong this relaxation at the hotel-owned spa with an indoor swimming pool and a selection of massage treatments. In the evening you can try out one of the numerous, excellent restaurants in Salzburg, which serve Austrian specialities and international dishes. See out the first day of your city break in Salzburg at the bar of Altstadthotel Wolf-Dietrich while sipping a glass of excellent wine.
Day two: This is how you can fully enjoy your Salzburg city break
After a delicious breakfast at Altstadthotel Wolf-Dietrich, you can start the second day of your city break in Salzburg. If you enjoyed the opportunity on the first day of your holiday to visit the main sights without having to walk too much, then you will be very pleased on your second day! Why not try out a segway during your second city tour? With these small, battery-driven vehicles you can go on a “City Surfing” tour through the city of Mozart. You will quickly learn how to drive it, and as it is absolutely innocuous the segway guarantees a lot of flexible and mobile fun. This is the right thing for a thrilling city break! During your “Segway City Surfing” tour a coach will guide you through the city for 2 and a half hours, showing you the main sights. Another tour is the so-called “Rikscha-Tour” in Salzburg. A rickshaw is a comfortable bicycle taxi for two people. The driver is also your city guide and he will provide you with interesting information regarding places, churches and the narrow streets of Salzburg. The classic way to discover Salzburg is by “Fiaker”, a traditional cab drawn by horses. In good weather Salzburg’s beer gardens invite you to rest and enjoy refreshments and snacks. For the second evening of your city break in Salzburg you can choose between different options, such as theatre and cabaret at the republic or the “Kleine Theater”. You can also sample Salzburg’s nightlife at the M32 on the Mönchsberg or at the Steinterrasse café.
Day three of your city break:
What would a city break be without shopping? During the third day of your weekend in Salzburg you can embark on a beautiful shopping tour directly from Altstadthotel Wolf-Dietrich which will take you along the Linzer Gasse with its small shops across the Stadtbrücke into the most famous shopping street of Salzburg: the Getreidegasse. Here you will find boutiques, souvenir shops, international fashion stores, perfumeries, shoe shops, jewellers’, antique shops and purveyors of sweets.
After a tasty piece of Sachertorte, the Hohensalzburg fortress awaits you with its breathtaking panoramic views over the rooftops of Salzburg and interesting insights into medieval life during the era of the prince archbishops such as Wolf-Dietrich von Raitenau. The view is also beautiful from the other mountains of Salzburg, such as the Mönchsberg or the Kapuzinerberg. Fans of culture should not pass up the chance to visit Salzburg’s museums: The Cathedral Museum, the Residence and the Museum of Modern Art are well worth seeing. Over your last dinner you can talk about the days you spent in the city of Mozart and about your plans for a future city break in Salzburg.
