Salzburg in 3 days in the Altstadthotel Wolf-Dietrich
Your itinerary for
3 days in Salzburg
An extended weekend provides the perfect opportunity to explore Salzburg in 3 days. The city of Mozart is known for its diversity and combines culturally astonishing sights with shopping opportunities, culinary experiences and particularly vibrant nightlife.
Being a guest of the Altstadthotel Wolf-Dietrich, you’ll enjoy several attractive advantages that make your stay particularly amazing and memorable. Here’s the best way you can get to know Salzburg in 3 days.
Your first day
A taste of the city’s highlights
If you want to explore Salzburg in 3 days, you have enough time to fully experience all the beauties of the city in peace. First of all, you can relax at the Altstadthotel Wolf-Dietrich and have your luggage delivered to your room. After a brief walk through the hotel, your tour through Salzburg can already start, and the best is the Hop-on-Hop-off bus, the easiest and most comfortable way for a first impression of Salzburg. You can get off the bus at any interesting sight – and get back on the bus again later. In the summer, the best way to enjoy this unusual view of Salzburg is the open-air bus. If you’d like to cruise on the Salzach, we recommend a combined ticket, which is also valid for the Salzach ship Amadeus.
Relaxed first night in Salzburg
Relax in the Altstadthotel in the afternoon with coffee and cake after a leisurely stroll through Salzburg.
This relaxation can be deepened in the hotel spa with indoor pool and massage offers. In the evening, there are numerous excellent restaurants in Salzburg serving Austrian delicacies and international dishes.
We’ll gladly book a table in the restaurant of your choice. Cap off your first night with a nice glass of wine at the bar in the Altstadthotel Wolf-Dietrich.
The second day in Salzburg
Segway tour through the city of Mozart
After a delicious breakfast in the Altstadthotel Wolf-Dietrich, day two can begin.
If you already enjoyed not walking on your first day, well, things get even better today! You can use Segways for your second city walk. Go on a “City Surfing” tour through the city of Mozart on these small, battery-operated vehicles.
You’ll learn how to handle them in no time and, realizing that they are safe, you can look forward to lots of flexible and mobile fun – just what you need for an exciting city break! A coach will guide you through the city in 2.5 hours to all the notable sights and highlights.
Rickshaws and horse-drawn cabs
How about a rickshaw tour through Salzburg? A rickshaw is a comfortable bike taxi for two persons. The driver also serves as your guide providing interesting information about the squares, churches and alleys. The classic way to explore Salzburg is by horse-drawn cab, a traditional carriage. If the weather is nice, taking a break with a refreshing drink and a hearty snack in one of Salzburg’s beer gardens is always a nice option. There are several options available for your second evening: theatre or comedy in the republic or the Kleines Theater, or exploring Salzburg’s nightlife, which puts its most flashy foot forward in the M32 on the Mönchsberg or on the Steinterrasse. Theatre programmes are available at the reception, tickets can be ordered with your room reservation per request.
Day three in Salzburg
Shopping tour in the city centre
Salzburg in 3 days without shopping? Impossible! Start your shopping tour at the Altstadthotel Wolf-Dietrich and explore the Linzer Gasse with its small stores. Cross the city bridge to reach the Getreidegasse, Salzburg’s most famous shopping strip. Here you come across boutiques, souvenir shops, international fashion labels, perfumeries, shoe stores, jewellery shops, antique dealers, and sweets manufactures.
The traditional café
In addition to numerous boutiques and renowned fashion labels, you’ll come across many charming cafés and foot stands. Enrich your city break with a cup of coffee or make a toast to the delightful 72 hours in Salzburg. The traditional cafés Fürst, Tomaselli and Demel offer an unobstructed view of the busy city in the summer.
Walk with a view
After a delicious slice of Sacher cake, the Hohensalzburg Fortress invites you to its divine view across Salzburg’s roofs and interesting insights into medieval life during the era of archbishops, such as Wolf-Dietrich von Raitenau.
The view from Salzburg’s other city hills, such as the Mönchsberg or the Kapuzinerberg, is just as neat. Culture buffs can head to one of Salzburg’s many museums. The Cathedral Museum, the Salzburg Museum / Neue Residenz and the Museum of Modern Art are particularly worth seeing.
Revive the past days and experiences during your final dinner and think about what you would like to see next – during your next city break in the Altstadthotel Wolf-Dietrich.
