Tips for Family.TIME in Salzburg
Experience history up-close and go back in time. A trip to the Fortress makes culture fun.
We recommend: Take the funicular up to the Fortress – the views alone are worth it! Plus, the ride takes just 40 seconds. From there, head to the observation tower, visit the Marionette Museum, or take a tour to get a feeling of what medieval life was like. How you get back down to the city is up to you: will it be the funicular or a nice walk?
Toy fans can dive into the world of play.
Here you can: Play and learn, balance and juggle, cook and taste. Upon request, you can hire the Carrera race track. And what can grown-ups do? Well, they’re invited to play along, travel back in time with their kids or take a seat at the tea bar for a little break.
Time flies at the Haus der Natur. This museum is an adventure!
Research, play, discover: from the fascinating underwater exhibits at the aquarium to out-of-this-world experiences in the outer space exhibit. Dinosaurs from long ago command your attention and a journey through the human body is seemingly endless. A must-do: experiments in the Science Centre.
With lots to see and learn, you won’t get a much better feeling for Mozart’s life than you will here.
Get ready to be amazed: when you learn how Mozart’s family had just two beds for everyone! The kitchen sink is original and cooking was done over an open fire. Plus, you can see original instruments and treat your ears to many different sounds.
Little ones love this theatre festival especially for children!
Salzburg has concerts and pieces for the entire family. Ask us for information about the current programme. We will be happy to help reserve tickets.
A cruise on the Salzach river is a must for anyone visiting Salzburg.
All hands on deck for heaps of fun: Families can book different tours on this sightseeing ship and discover Salzburg and its surrounding from the water. And guess what? The Amadeus can even do the waltz! One special attraction is the combination of a boat trip to the Hellbrunn Trick Fountains with a return trip on an English double-decker bus from 1964.
Just the spot for a leisurely day!
Cool off on hot summer days: The Trick Fountains are calling! But be careful where you stop: you might just get sprayed! This is an absolute highlight for kids and grown-ups alike. Our tip: be sure to check out the Stone Theatre. The palace also has great exhibitions for guests of all ages.
Salzburg Zoo in Hellbrunn is home to around 1,500 animals from around the world. The spectable of nature, sprawling exhibits and petting zoo create the perfect setting for a leisurely day!
This zoo is definitely worth more than just one visit with children. It is suitable for prams, is barrier-free and offers adventures in all four seasons. Did you know that there are over 150 different animal species here? The zoo is located in the south of Salzburg, and the bus station is close to the hotel – you’ll be at the zoo in just about 20 minutes.
